In FCC v. AT&T, the Court heard arguments in a dispute over whether the “personal privacy” exemption to disclosure requirements of the FOIA protects corporations as well as people.

Though it arises in a different context, the case contains echoes of the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission case argued almost exactly a year ago on Jan. 21, 2010. A majority of the Court in that case said corporations enjoy First Amendment rights just like people when it comes to being free from regulation of political speech. Among other things, the decision triggered a debate over the issue of corporate personhood.
