H. Rodgin Cohen served as chairman of Sullivan & Cromwell from July 1, 2000, through December 31, 2009. As the U.S. financial system teetered on the brink of collapse in autumn 2008, Cohen counseled clients on more than 20 transactions, among them the rescue-financing deals for American International Group Inc. and Fannie Mae and the sales of Bear Stearns, Wachovia and Lehman Brothers. He spoke to The National Law Journal about his role leading up to and following the financial crisis.
