North Carolina Solicitor General Ryan Park has withdrawn his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit this week after his chances for confirmation were reportedly tanked in a deal Democrats struck with Republicans over President Joe Biden’s remaining judicial picks.

“It was such a privilege to be nominated by the President, and I have no regrets about going through the process—surrounded by family, friends, and cherished colleagues,” Park wrote on X. “It’s disappointing, of course, not to be confirmed, but I love being a lawyer and I’m excited to continue practicing law.”
