The idea that a handful of big tech companies deserve antitrust protection because they are furthering U.S. interests and innovation is misplaced, Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan said Friday in defense of the need to ensure competition.

“We hear arguments today about how, especially with the large tech companies, that we should hold off against antitrust action because we need to protect these ‘national champions,’” Khan said at the Federalist Society’s 2023 National Lawyers Convention in Washington.
