The U.S. Department of Justice’s pending lawsuit against a compiler and distributor of price, cost and output information solely for meat processors could spur similar DOJ antitrust lawsuits in other industries, antitrust attorneys said this week.

The DOJ sued Agri Stats Inc. last month, alleging the company’s weekly and monthly compilations and distribution to chicken, pork and turkey processors violates federal antitrust law by stifling competition within the food industry while enabling processors to raise prices by controlling the food supply.
