Baker Botts, which traces its origins back to Houston in 1840, waited more than a century after its inception to launch a second domestic office, opening its doors in Washington, D.C., in September 1973.

Since its humble beginnings in the nation’s capital, beginning with only one energy regulatory partner at its opening, the office has since grown to 125 lawyers, including 55 partners, making it the second-largest among the Am Law 100 firm’s 13 offices across the globe.
