Welcome back to The Marble Palace Blog. I am Tony Mauro, and have covered the Supreme Court since 1979, and for ALM since 2000. I retired in 2019, but in September 2021, I launched the blog, named after the Marble Palace, an old moniker of the Supreme Court building. I swore not to write articles that begin with “The Supreme Court today ruled…” Instead, I focused on the court’s history and mysteries, its quirks and its clerks among other topics. My blog came to a halt in November 2022, when I was hit with COVID-related medical problems. Thankfully, I recovered by April 2023. In this newest blog item, I am featuring notes of interest about the late Justice John Paul Stevens. I thank ALM for inviting me back. I welcome tips and comments at [email protected].

The famous Green Bag, a self-described entertaining journal of law, has produced single bobbleheads for many Supreme Court justices. The first bobblehead for the late Justice John Paul Stevens was made in 2004, complete with his well-known bowtie. But Green Bag’s editor-in-chief, Ross Davies, recently felt the need for another Stevens bobblehead—a very rare twofer.
