A federal judge in San Francisco approved a $725 million class action settlement on Wednesday with Facebook over the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria of the Northern District of California granted preliminary approval despite concerns raised at a March 2 hearing by the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office about the settlement. Chhabria held off approving the deal right away and, in a March 6 order, gave other states suing Facebook, now Meta Platforms, 14 days to object to the settlement or propose changes.
