President Joe Biden on Wednesday announced his pick for a seat on the Boston-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, as well as three federal trial court nominees.

The president nominated Michael A. Delaney, director and shareholder at the New Hampshire firm McLane Middleton, for the First Circuit. The vacancy was created when the court’s former chief judge, Jeffrey Howard, appointed by President George W. Bush in 2002, took senior status almost a year ago.
