The numbers speak for themselves. After the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in its June 26 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, private practice lawyers immediately entered the fray, devoting large amounts of time to help protect the reproductive rights of women around the country.
Between July 1 and Oct. 31, total pro bono hours committed to the cause ballooned almost five-fold at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer. At Boies Schiller Flexner, an estimated $1 million and 1,500 hours were invested into protecting reproductive rights. At Lowenstein Sandler, pro bono hours shot up 156%.
