Jonathan Hecht, who was an assistant chief counsel and acting co-chief counsel in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement division, is the latest lawyer to leave the agency, departing for Goodwin Procter in Washington, D.C. 

Hecht began as an attorney for the SEC in 2012 before ascending to senior counsel to the co-directors of enforcement in 2017 and holding the title of assistant chief counsel for the enforcement division since 2018. He also served for more than six months as the enforcement division’s acting co-chief counsel, a key legal and policy adviser to the division’s leadership.
