A stream of California law firms have joined a coalition seeking to offer free legal services to those affected by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but not all the firms have wanted to be named.

Some of the reluctance to be recognized for pro bono efforts related to abortion rights underlines the pressure firms are under to take action without alienating their attorneys and clients—as with the high-profile departure of Kirkland & Ellis’ Paul Clement and Erin Murphy over the firm’s decision to no longer represent clients in Second Amendment matters.
