With a 6 to 3 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned the right to abortion that was established in 1973 with the landmark ruling of Roe v. Wade. Justice Samuel Alito Jr. in the majority opinion Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization wrote: “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.” Our complete coverage below.
