Republican-appointed federal chief judges were less likely to issue mask mandates during the COVID-19 pandemic than those named by Democratic presidents, but more likely to suspend in-person jury trials, according to new research by several law professors.
The paper adds to some existing research that has found a judges’ ideology influences court management decisions, the authors said.
