California’s state bar and the bankruptcy trustee overseeing Tom Girardi’s estate have reached an agreement that will allow the lawyer-regulating agency to review documents that may shed light on how past complaints against the disgraced trial lawyer were handled.
A stipulation between the bar and trustee Elissa Miller would allow the bar to quickly subpoena the trustee for Girardi’s communications and financial records that would be vetted by a law firm retained by the agency. The bar has agreed to pay Miller’s unspecified costs of sorting through the requested documents.
