The Senate Judiciary Committee deadlocked Thursday on the nomination of Kenly Kiya Kato for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
The panel split 11-11 on its vote for Kato, who currently serves as a federal magistrate judge and would be the second Asian American Pacific Islander woman to serve in the Central District if confirmed.
