Former Human Rights Campaign President Alphonso David sued the prominent LGBTQ rights organization Thursday in Brooklyn federal court, alleging that the organization racially discriminated against him when he was fired in September amid the uproar over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment allegations.

David’s attorneys, Linda D. Friedman and Shona B. Glink of the Chicago-based boutique Stowell & Friedman and Matthew J. Singer of Matt Singer Law, argued that HRC dismissed David “without identifying or articulating anything that David had actually done wrong” after hiring Sidley Austin to investigate whether David had engaged in wrongdoing in providing advice to Cuomo’s team.
