A group of former Justice Department officials on Monday urged a federal appeals court against granting former President Donald Trump’s request to shield White House records from the congressional Jan. 6 select committee.

The former DOJ officials—Donald Ayer, Stuart Gerson, Peter Keisler, Carter Phillips and Trevor Potter—made the argument in an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. All five men served in the Justice Department under Republican presidents.
