The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Friday issued a green light for Manhattan federal prosecutors to move ahead with their case against Halkbank, the Turkish state-owned bank accused of helping Iran evade more than $20 billion in U.S. economic sanctions.

In a unanimous opinion written by Judge José Cabranes, the panel of Cabranes, Judge Amalya Kearse and Judge Joseph Bianco upheld U.S. District Judge Richard Berman of the Southern District of New York’s ruling that Halkbank is not immune from prosecution in the United States.
