A federal judge on Friday sentencing a defendant who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 said he was concerned that many accused of participating in the riot aren’t accepting responsibility and feel “totally justified in what they did.”

“It’s become evident to me in the riot cases that many of the defendants who are pleading guilty are not truly accepting responsibility,” said U.S. District Senior Judge Thomas Hogan of the District of Columbia. “They seem to me to be trying to get this out of their way as quickly and inexpensively as possible.”
