Eight students who are challenging Indiana University’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday to block enforcement of the mandate pending the outcome of their appeals.

The students, represented by James Bopp Jr. of The Bopp Law Firm in Terre Haute, Indiana, filed an emergency application for an injunction with Justice Amy Coney Barrett, the justice overseeing emergency requests from the U.S. Court of the Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Barrett may rule on the application or refer it to the full court.
