The House is turning to U.S. Supreme Court and appellate veteran Seth Waxman to help with its legal fight to obtain former President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

Waxman, a partner with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, on Tuesday evening filed a notice of appearance in the case. The lawsuit was originally filed by the House Ways and Means Committee in 2019, but was halted for months as other federal judges in D.C. weighed threshold legal questions over the House’s ability to sue to enforce its judicial subpoenas.
