A coalition of former federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C., are urging the Senate to confirm civil rights lawyer and former public defender Jia Cobb to a federal judgeship.
Cobb, a partner with the D.C. civil rights firm Relman Colfax, was nominated last month by President Joe Biden to fill a vacancy on the U.S. District of Columbia District Court and will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. In a letter dated Tuesday, the 21 former prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. said Cobb is “eminently qualified” for the court and would bring both racial and professional diversity to the federal bench.
