A federal judge repeatedly pressed lawyers behind a failed election challenge in Michigan to describe how they verified the claims they presented in court, but her questions rarely elicited direct responses to her concerns about the evidence.

U.S. District Judge Linda Parker of the Eastern District of Michigan began a sanctions hearing for lawyers behind last year’s “Kraken” lawsuit at 8:30 a.m. Monday. By the time it finished some six hours later, it became clear her focus was on what steps the attorneys—which include lawyers Sidney Powell and Howard Kleinhendler—took to verify the allegations they made in court.
