Attorneys for Dominion Voting Systems Corp. are hitting back at lawyer Sidney Powell’s motion to throw out a defamation lawsuit, arguing that Powell’s legal team was asking a federal judge to “create unprecedented immunity for attorneys to wage televised disinformation campaigns.”

Powell’s attorneys in March filed a motion to dismiss the defamation lawsuit from the voting systems company, claiming that “no reasonable person” believed her false statements about Dominion rigging the 2020 election against former President Donald Trump were factual. The motion also asked that, if the lawsuit was not dismissed, that it be transferred to the Northern District of Texas.
