It has been a tumultuous year for the bar exam, but this week brings some positive news for the attorney licensing test.
The national average score on the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) from the February exam increased 1.4 points, to land at 134, according to the National Conference of Bar Examiners. That essentially erases the 1.4-point decline in the average MBE score from the February 2020 exam, which brought the mean down to an all-time low. The MBE is the 200-question multiple-choice portion of the bar that is used by most jurisdictions and is scored by the National Conference. Individual jurisdictions score the essays and performance tests, and calculate pass rates.
