A Department of Justice attorney told a federal judge Friday that he does not know whether the incoming Biden administration will grant a House committee’s request for former President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

During a hearing before U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, DOJ lawyer James Gilligan said government attorneys have only been able to briefly discuss the case with incoming leadership at the department, and have not had the chance to consult with the new leaders of the Treasury Department, which possesses the tax records.
