Cox Communications has forfeited the chance to shave $220 million from a $1 billion music piracy verdict.
U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady of the Eastern District of Virginia ruled that there appeared to be substantial overlap between copyrighted musical compositions and copyrighted sound recordings that Cox was found to have helped infringe at a 2019 jury trial.
