Georgia’s attorney general and other top-ranking officials—all Republicans—spoke out Wednesday to condemn the mob of President Donald Trump supporters storming the U.S. Capitol and disrupting the Electoral College vote count in favor of Joe Biden, breaking windows, rummaging through desks and taking occupancy of congressional offices.

“I support the right of Americans to peacefully protest, but the violence and destruction we are seeing at the U.S. Capitol is unacceptable and un-American,” said Attorney General Chris Carr in a tweet. “I condemn these actions in the strongest possible sense. You can not support freedom, our Constitution or the rule of law and engage in this type of behavior. Those responsible must be stopped and held accountable.”
