Paul Hastings made the most of a life sciences boom (which may not be over just yet) in 2020, and is now looking at expanding its capital markets practice as the new year arrives, nabbing former Latham & Watkins partner Brandon Bortner for its Washington, D.C., office.

“Clients turn to us to guide their large and complex finance matters, including critical financing activity in the global capital markets,” Seth Zachary, chairman of Paul Hastings, said in a statement. “With Brandon’s addition, we continue to deepen our leading global securities and capital markets practice, especially given his extensive company-side capital markets experience, including expertise in structured private investments in public equity (PIPEs), and proven track record in advising public companies on reporting and governance matters.”
