A federal magistrate judge is threatening sanctions in a suit between legal recruiters, scolding the defendant recruiter and his lawyer for continuing to resist discovery requests by the plaintiff, Texas legal recruiter Robert Kinney and his firm.

In an order Friday, U.S. District Magistrate Judge Andrew Austin of the Western District of Texas has said the argument for keeping this information from the plaintiff, Kinney and his firm, has no merit. He denied numerous motions sought by defendant Evan Jowers, a former recruiter of Austin’s MWK Recruiting, whose former counsel at DLA Piper withdrew from the case in June.
