My Law.com colleague Amanda Bronstad covered a remarkable hearing yesterday where famed plaintiffs lawyer Tom Girardi sat silently on the hot seat.

U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin in Chicago who is overseeing lawsuits related to the crash of a Boeing Max 8 airplane in Indonesia in 2018, found that Girardi and his firm, Girardi Keese, could not account for $2 million they owe to four clients. The judge reminded parties dialed into the telephonic hearing Monday that Girardi’s clients in the case are “widows” and “orphans.”
