The District of Columbia Court of Appeals will not alter the limited diploma privilege program it unveiled last week, as a group of bar examinees had requested.
The court late Monday issued an order denying an emergency petition that called for a reduction in the time period in which program participants—who don’t have to take and pass the bar exam in order to be licensed—must practice under the supervision of a local attorney from three years to six months. The court also rejected the petitioners’ request to extend the deadline to withdraw from next week’s online bar exam and sign up for what the court has dubbed an emergency examination waiver. The court’s Sept. 28 order did not include any explanation for the denial.
