U.S. District Judge Margo Brodie of the Eastern District of New York on Friday denied the Bureau of Prisons’ request to lift an order requiring that Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center provide evening availability for calls between inmates and their attorneys.

The order, which was issued July 10, will stand as conflict continues over telephone and videoconference access in the MDC and Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, where in-person legal visits remain shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
