Industry observers estimate that just a few African American partners at major law firms have made it to the ranks of chairman, managing partner or leader of a key office.
In 2009, a small group of Washington, D.C.-based firmwide and office managing partners started convening for quarterly dinners to compare notes on best leadership practices, to strategize on partner and client issues and to brainstorm on what they could do to help expand the pipeline of diverse lawyers at major law firms.
