When George Fatheree III learned that a vast multimedia archive from Ebony and Jet magazines was to be sold this summer, the Munger, Tolles & Olson partner understood that a collection like this one had never been on the market before.

So when a colleague told him that a firm client, the J. Paul Getty Trust, had an interest in purchasing the archive to ensure it didn’t wind up in the hands of private collectors, he jumped at the chance to get involved.
