President Donald Trump regularly feuds with his U.S. attorney general, Jeff Sessions, on Twitter, calling him names and assailing his decision to step aside from overseeing Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump ramped up his criticism over the weekend, calling Sessions “scared stiff” and “missing in action.” On Tuesday morning, the president again was shredding Sessions on social media, saying a “real attorney general” would have stopped Mueller.

Sessions, for his part, has only praised his boss. Last week, Sessions said this about the president: “Unlike some, he is not afraid of the name-calling and the fake news. He has endured relentless media attacks in order to speak up for the forgotten people of this country.” Sessions in July praised Trump's “strong leadership” at an event in Washington.
