The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday denied the Trump administration’s effort to block a climate-change trial in a novel case brought by 21 children and teenagers from across the country.

The high court, in an unsigned order and without dissent, said the government’s request to block the Oct. 29 trial or to suspend discovery was “premature.” The court added: “The breadth of respondents’ claims is striking, however, and the justiciability of those claims presents substantial grounds for difference of opinion.”
