Irell & Manella is working alongside McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter to represent Engine Media Holdings Inc. as the company’s subsidiary Winview Inc. sues DraftKings Inc. for patent infringement in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. According to an announcement from Engine Media, the plaintiff alleges that several of DraftKings’ gaming services infringe on two of Winview’s patents related to gaming technology. Engine Media develops technology related to esports, news and gaming industry, and Winview is a provider of cash games of skill tied to viewing traditional sports and esports.
Google parent company Alphabet Inc. is asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to rehear a case leveled against the company by the state of Rhode Island, according to Law Street Media. The Ninth Circuit’s most recent decision reversed an opinion disagreeing with Rhode Island’s claim that the company misled investors when it failed to disclose a bug in its Google+ platform. Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd is serving as the state’s lead counsel in the case.
