Portview Properties, which owns the property on which New Jersey’s only private immigration detention center sits, is suing CoreCivic Inc., the company that operates the facility. The plaintiff is seeking to terminate its lease with the defendant because, it claims, CoreCivic breached its contract by not following federal COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, allowing many of the people in the facility’s custody to contract the disease. Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi is representing Portview Properties in the case, according to northjersey.com.

Spencer Hellwig, a former Saratoga County, New York, administrator, is suing Saratoga County and its board of supervisors for allegedly firing him without just cause. According to The Daily Gazette, Hellwig had served as the county administrator for almost 10 years before being terminated from the position for what he claims were political reasons. Hinckley, Allen & Snyder is representing Hellwig as he seeks to be reinstated in his position.
