As vaccinations ramp up around the country and the economy opens up, there’s a sense of optimism that things will soon return to normal—maybe not what we used to think of as “normal,” but more of a new normal that resembles pre-pandemic life while also factoring in adaptations that have taken place since COVID-19 hit. All of this is going to have a ripple effect as firms return to offices, particularly on how firms operate.
Remote work is here to stay. While it won’t be every day, few people seem to envision a scenario where everyone is in the office every day. Between the flexibility it allows workers and the cost savings creating by reducing office space, working weeks are going to be forever altered. So too is the notion of “going to the office.”
