The board of directors of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio brought on Porter Wright Morris & Arthur to conduct an independent investigation into allegations that two top zoo executives used the organization’s resources for personal use. The zoo’s president and CEO and the zoo’s chief financial officer allegedly let family members stay in zoo-owned houses and used tickets to entertainment events meant for donors and supporters, according to The Columbus Dispatch. The zoo, which is a nonprofit organization funded by tax money, may also face an investigation from the Ohio Ethics Commission into whether or not the executives violated Ohio law.

Fishhawk Lake Reserve and Community, a homeowners association in Oregon, is facing a fine for allegedly causing the deaths of 30,000 fish during a drainpipe repair project, according to the Astorian. The homeowners association, however, contests the $439,200 penalty because it says the state mandated the project in the first place and provided little guidance for the project. Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, alongside Hart Wagner, represented Fishhawk Lake Reserve and Community in the case.
