The “war for talent” is a phrase I’ve heard time and time again when talking with law firm leaders about the challenges and opportunities they’re facing in today’s market.

It may seem dramatic, but perhaps not—firms live and die on lateral moves and talent retention. And, as one recruiter reminded me last week, a law firm’s most important assets walk in the door each morning and out every night, with at least some risk of never returning.
