White-collar criminal defense attorney Zahid N. Quraishi left his role as partner at Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti following his appointment as U.S. magistrate judge for the District of New Jersey, according to an announcement from the firm. At Riker Danzig, Quraishi chaired the white-collar criminal defense and investigations group and was chief diversity officer. Before joining the firm, he was an assistant U.S. attorney. In his new position, Quraishi will be New Jersey’s first Asian American federal judge.

The former partner-in-charge of Venable‘s Wilmington, Delaware, office made a move to another midsize firm, becoming a partner at Robinson & Cole. Jamie Edmonson joined Robinson & Cole’s bankruptcy and reorganizations practice as part of the firm’s efforts to expand its Wilmington office, reports the Delaware Business Times. According to the firm’s website, Edmonson focuses her practice on commercial bankruptcy, restructurings, creditors’ rights issues, insolvencies and liquidations.
