Big-time college football coaches get fired all the time. But former University of Southern California head coach Steve Sarkisian in a lawsuit filed Monday claims he was illegally terminated for being an alcoholic, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“Instead of supporting its head coach Steve Sarkisian when he needed its help the most, USC kicked him to the curb,” wrote Dan Stormer, a partner at Hadsell Stormer & Renick in the suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Sarkisian is seeking at least $12.6 million for breach of contract, plus damages.
