A federal judge in New York refused this week to throw out part of an antitrust class action brought by television station owners against SESAC, a music licensing organization that represents about 20,000 composers. The ruling comes just three months after a magistrate judge in Pennsylvania ruled that radio broadcasters are likely to prevail on similar claims against SESAC.

The local television affiliates are represented in the New York case by Weil, Gotshal & Manges. SESAC (originally an acronym for Society of European Stage Authors and Composers) has Jenner & Block.
