Federal prosecutors in Southern California added four jury convictions earlier this summer to more than two dozen guilty pleas they’ve tallied during the sprawling probe of the U.S. Navy “Fat Leonard” corruption scandal.

That moniker comes from the nickname of military contractor Leonard Glenn Francis, who has pleaded guilty to bribing officers with hotels, food, gifts and prostitutes in exchange for steering Navy vessels into ports operated by Glenn Defense Marine Asia, which then overcharged for services.
