Judge Amy Hanley says the goal of cross-examination is to maintain control of the witness and as the examining attorney much of the power to do that is in your hands.

“You have a witness who has been subpoenaed. They have to be there. They have to answer your questions. The judge will make them answer your questions,” said Hanley, speaking during a web presentation last week sponsored by NITA. “So you have the power in that moment.”
