A West Texas judge has been sanctioned for making racially insensitive comments about Mexican people and using the prestige of her office to oppose a solar power farm being built next to her family’s land.

Over a span of months in 2019, Van Zandt County Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Judge Sandra Plaster had multiple conversations and calls with State Troopers, trying to get them to pull over and ticket trucks that were working on the solar farm. She stated repeatedly the trucks were driven by Mexicans who were “illegal” and did not have driver licenses, said a public warning by the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct.
