For the second time this month, a Texas court’s plan for an experimental jury trial was foiled because lawyers did not want to participate.

Judge Donna Roth of Harris County’s 295th District Court on Thursday granted a continuance in a $30 million commercial real estate dispute that was scheduled for trial in early September. Although the court planned to select a jury in a conference center, limit the courtroom to 25 people and socially distance everyone, the plaintiffs lawyers still argued the jury trial just wouldn’t be safe.
